Parkinson's Disease

Parkinson's Disease is a neurodegenerative disease caused by deterioration of neurons within the brain. It damages the collection of nerve cells that help control movement, known as basal ganglia. These nerve cells produce dopamine, a chemical that sends messages coordinating body movements. The body gradually stops getting the right messages and the patient loses the ability to totally control body movements.

Common Symptoms:

Slowed movements
Tremor, shaking in an arm or leg
Stiffness of the limbs and trunk
Impaired balance and coordination
